<p>Given the news about Scott, what do you guys think Reel Big Fish should do now?&nbsp;<div></div><div>Here\’s my perfect scenario…</div><div>The band announces that they will release a box set with previously unreleased material and more, as well as one final original album (and it\’s good!). These albums and any extra recordings for a box set will feature Scott. After this, they will do farewell tours across the UK and then the US/Canada. At the end of the tour they will have 4 more final shows in California, New York, Seattle, and then a final show at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon (those last two are a little hopeful). These final shows will feature a the return of both Scott Klopfenstein and Matt Wong (sorry Derek) and maybe some appearances from other former band members (or maybe that could just be a DVD bonus). The last show, and maybe some of the others will be released on CD and/or DVD (maybe with the box set). After this great farewell, the band quits on top and on great terms with each other. Reel Big Fish disbanding causes people to remember the great band that these guys were, and get nostalgic, and their songs gain popularity and the guys make a bit of cash.&nbsp;</div><div></div><div>Then, the mid to late 2010\’s mark 20 years since the third wave of ska, and the peak of Reel Big Fish\’s success. Trends tend to reappear about every 20 years and ska finally starts to gain some real popularity again. The band, still on great terms with each other, decides to get back together (with Aaron, Scott, Matt, Dan, John, and Ryland), but they\’re now a little less focused on constant touring and more focused on putting out original albums. The band puts together a couple of albums while ska is big again, and fans are much more pleased with the amount and quality of original albums. They then retire for good, play one last show at Matthew Knight Arena, and end their career together and with satisfied fans.</div><div></div><div>I know my scenario is a little far-fetched in many ways. What would you guys hope to see?</div><div></div><div>Also, for the record, I think Aaron keeps the band together with little success until he finally gives up 5 years from now.&nbsp;</div>

I saw someone on Punknews say that they saw the band slowly becoming an Aaron Barrett one man show, with him drunkenly bantering to himself between songs.

      That’s where I see RBF going post-Klopf.

Sadly, I have to agree with that. I can’t see the box set happening, although it would be amazing. and I don’t think Aaron will keep it together long enough to regain popularity. Although, he’ll probably resist and go through complete band member changes before its over. He and Dan are the only members predating 2000 anyway…

RBF is going to end up exactly like The Toasters, meaning it’s becoming an Aaron Barrett one man show and over the next few years we’ll likely see a number of line up changes as the band slowly becomes Aaron’s show with a bunch of other random musicians.

Dan has a kid so he’ll probably want to spend more time with it now too.

I think they should quit and Aaron should start something new.  Maybe he can go play guitar for Limp Bizkit or something else.

I’d say he should become a producer but he doesn’t like telling people what to do… other than his own band.

Really I don’t care what happens now, I’m interested to see what happens next, but I really don’t care.  Maybe they should do a reality show.

Skank of Love – Coming to VH1 this fall.
Aaron Barrett of RBF chooses true love out of a litter of fat, sweaty rude girls.

That might have been topical 14 years ago.

      Didn’t stop Rock Of Love.
Bret Micheals was the last person I expected to be revived via VH1

Samu ha detto: Bring back FOE.

Isn’t that basically what RBF has become now that Scott is gone?

They’re gonna find someone to replace Scott and keep going. They lost members before and it’s stopped them then.

Although the idea of Aaron drunk on stage bantering with himself is pretty hilarious.

I managed to see RBF in Boston. one of the last shows before Scott left. It was good (albeit, a little exhausting). Scott will be a VERY missed dynamic of the band. It worries me, but i may mean new scott solo stuff… which means we’ll have something new to talk about… would be nice.
