My name is Thomas, I’m from Ireland and I’m 33 years old. Long time fishing enthusiast. Hi there Thomas! My name is Julian, also a bit of a fishing enthusiast! I also don’t fish on a professional level, but I’m not going to lie, I think I could.

I agree, the “Reel” pun is hilarious! Had my mother and I in “stiches” after we read it! (excuse the pun!)

I’m thinking about organising a fishing this summer – men only of course – with plenty of beer, sunbathing and growing in our friendships 🙂 (and fishing of course!)

Hello there again you guys. I am really sorry for the late replies, but it has been a busy time over the last while. My mother was sick for a few days so I was in charge of the house cleaning and cooking. It also gave me more time to find fish enthusiast forums and look at some candid fish pics, if you know what I mean. I am somewhat confused, bamboozled and rustled by your replies? Is this not a fishing forum? I didn’t really take the grand tour of the site, I just found the general chat forum and jumped right in and out again, similar to a fish in that regard. Not all fish, but the jumping ones.

Well here is the exciting news. Julian and I will be meeting up this Summer to do some fishing here in Ireland. We don’t expect to catch things like Heavy Peckers, but bonding time with another sea harvester is always cherished. From our correspondence via email, I have concluded that he is a nice, intelligent and funny guy. We have been thinking of loads of fishing related puns ever since seeing the “REEL big fish” one. We are going to start a blog maybe, or a forum of our own. We would love you to join us over there when we get this all set up.

Well anyway, I have to go. Mother is making me chocolate button sandwiches (she is better now!) and I wouldn’t miss them for the world.

Well, I feel quite the fool right now – like someone who has been caught with their pants down! Are the songs about fishing or do the bands have anything to do with “The Sport of Christs” AKA fishing? It is very rare to find a community that dances to the pipes of mackerel. I’m really embarrassed. Thank you for being so kind and not insulting me over my mistake. I’ll admit, it was a rookie error on my part. I feel that I am being victimized and slandered for my mistakes, which is just not fair. Although the audience who read my original posts may be bemused at first – it was an honest slip up. I feel I have given a fair apology in another thread I posted containing links to great punk bands from my country. I thought “punk” was a forgiving community. Sophie’s comment truly does hurt. If you don’t have patience with honest people like me, you couldn’t possibly have patience for fishing.

I spent last night drinking.

 It was sunny during the day so I went out and drank the cheapest bottle of wine I could find. Admittedly it tasted more like rancid bogwater than wine, but it did the job. Several minutes after letting the fluid pump around my body, I was somewhat inebriated and hungry. At this stage the sun was beginning to sink lower and lower in the sky, once again decreasing the temperature and darkening our drinking spot. 

On the way back to my house I got Chinese food and a friend of mine bought eight cans of cheap, strong cider. Upon arrival at my house, I downloaded “Worms World Party”. It was originally meant to be a small gathering where we had a few drinks and a few laughs, anecdotes would be shared and then I would retire to bed. Alas, we stayed up hyper late drinking said cans and playing Worms. It was a great night and I regret nothing, but now my head hurts. It hurts so much that I can’t be arsed pretending I like fishing anymore. I am Irish, and I am a punk. I just thought it would be funny to rustle ALL of the jimmies. Now that the truth is out, I will no longer pretend to be a fish enthusiast.

Credit where credit is due though, those posts were damn funny.
