Sounds like it could be good. My issue with their songwriting these past… six years isn’t the melodies or sounds or riffs themselves, but the structure.
So I’m going to have to hear the whole song to fully judge. I really don’t want another album of five minute songs, it doesn’t work for their sound. -

I’m glad they’re up there enjoying themselves. It looks like Aaron has his backing band and everything has his stamp of approval and everyone understands that’s the deal and everyone is happy and I’m happy for them.
But I’m bored with it. I’ve come to terms with the fact that this is their sound now, but for some reason I have like this little 1% chance of hope that they will release at least one song I really like. Party Down is a song I can get behind because it does have all those classic RBF flourishes and transitions between the different parts of the song. There were so many of these things in their earlier albums, but as time went on the songs just went straight from one part of the song to the other. It’s like when you first start fooling around with a girl and you’re excited to do everything all the time, then after awhile it’s just down to business because that other stuff is too much work and this other way is just as fun and much easier.
And then there’s my favorite song that they’ve released since Average Man and that’s Cannibal. That’s a great song and it wasn’t just an Aaron song.
At the end of the day RBF to me were the first three major label albums. Everything after that is FOE.
RxBandits are where it’s at now, but they are pretty much dead so… It’s a lot easier to find bands with cool horn sections now than it was in the ’90s, so I made this playlist of songs with badass horns

Hmm. This is the single, huh? It’s a little dull actually.

So I super dig this song (the actual recording). There’s nothing really hooky about it, but it’s got a really warm feeling. It’s not too long, it doesn’t have three bridges, simple but catchy melodies, not overtly angry lyrics (CCF lyrically sounded like someone trying to write Reel Big Fish lyrics). I hope the steady quality of this song reflects the rest of the record.

I like the new tune, it’s a solid ska song and a good omen for the rest of the album.
That been said, I hope the album has some different things to offer than just “solid ska songs”, if you know what I mean. RBF has always had a rockish touch and I liked it a lot when they were mixing different styles. -
